Late 1800s/early 1900s:
Lapon Canyon Gold Mine was one of the mines worked at the turn of the century in Nevada.
1930s
When the depression increased the value of gold and decreased the value of labour, the mine was again worked for a few years.
1980s
The mine owner installs a small mill to process the gold from the rock left behind by earlier mining.
He also takes a drill sample from lower on the mountain and follows it with an tunnel extending 230 feet.
Rock samples from the end of the tunnel reportedly assay at 20.6 ounces of gold per ton of rock.
The tunnel is then blasted shut.
1990s
A new owner has studies done of the property which show the potential for further gold mining.
2000 - onward
A lease with an option-to-purchase the property is acquired by World Ventures Inc. as of June 2002. The company is now working to clear the tunnels and conduct formal assays of the mine.
